Christine Schneider

East Detroit High School

Christine Schneider is a graduate of the University of Michigan.  During her career at East Detroit she has coached swimming, basketball, volleyball and softball. She is credited for coaching the first basketball and swimming teams in the school's history. However, it's the sport of softball that Christine settled in for her coaching career.  In 23 years she has led her teams to a record of 442 wins, 209 loses, 6 conference titles, 6 MHSAA district championships, 4 MHSAA regional championships and 3 times the state runner-up.
Schneider has been inducted into the Macomb County and the Michigan High School Softball Coaches Association's Hall of Fame. She has been selected as the Distinct Coach of the Year twice, Macomb County COY three times and Detroit Free Press COY in 1980.  In basketball she was named Macomb County COY in 1982 and Detroit Free Press COY in 1982.  In 1996, she was a coach in the MHSSCA All-State game.
