  • Attended Mt. Vernon HS in Washington for two yrs. Then Kalamazoo Central where he served as manager of football & wrestling teams and ran track and field-also worked for athletic director.
  • Attended Western Michigan University for BS and MA degrees. Worked in athletic equipment room 4 yrs. as undergrad
  • Business Education Teacher-Homer HS 1964-66-coached track and field and cross country.
  • Bus. Ed. Teacher Kalamazoo Central HS 1966-2003. Asst. coach cross country and track & field-8yrs., Asst. Athletic Director 2 yrs., AD-19 years, League Administrator-Greater Kalamazoo Athletic Events-35 years, Executive Secretary-Southwest Michigan Athletic Conference-15 yrs.
  • Athletic official for Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) cross country and track and field for 50 yrs., working 31 state finals track & field meets and 21 state finals in cross country.
  • Meet manager for MHSAA State Volleyball tournament for 19 years.
  • Michigan Sports Sages Secretary for 13 years.
  • Michigan Interscholastic Athletic Administrators’ Association Regional AD of Year and recipient of State Award of Merit.
  • Michigan Interscholastic Volleyball Coaches’ Assoc. Distinguished Service Award.
  • Association of Track Officials of Michigan: 2nd President of organization. Awarded Bob Bloomer Award, Distinguished Service Award, and President’s Leadership Award.
  • Michigan Sports Sages winner of Sage of Year Award and Humanitarian/Service Award.
  • Winner of MHSAA Allen Bush Award, Vern Norris Award, and Charles Forsythe Award (Only person in state to receive all three awards).
