News Release

The 22nd MHSAA Women in Sports Leadership Conference entitled “Lead: I Can & I Will” will be held in Lansing, Michigan at the Crowne Plaza Lansing West on February 7 and 8, 2016. Registration information can be found at:
There are many opportunities to learn more about leadership within this Conference and all sessions have been selected through suggestions submitted by the WISL Planning Committee. Please encourage young women who are interested in leadership positions and interscholastic athletics to attend, as well as men and women who are responsible for recruiting, hiring, training and retaining women as coaches, athletic administrators and officials. The agenda is truly a reflection of what school administrators, students, coaches and officials have requested from a leadership conference.
In addition to the WISL Conference, on Saturday, February 6, 2015 the MHSAA is offering a Girls Lacrosse Official’s Training Clinic which is designed primarily for women interested in becoming registered girls lacrosse officials. This clinic is instrumental in training officials in one of our fastest growing sports – Girls Lacrosse.
The WISL Conference is limited to 500 attendees and therefore there is a deadline date of January 22, 2016 published in the registration information. This conference fills very quickly so the registration form should be returned without delay to ensure your attendance. Thanks for all you do!

MHSCA Hall of Fame
The Michigan High School Coaches Association was founded on the campus of Central Michigan University in 1954. The Hall of Fame Room is currently located in the Student Activities Center Conference room next to the Dan Rose Arena. CMU has graciously provided housing for the hall since 1971 and the current room was opened in 1996. Unfortunately, with 650 members as of today, the room is no longer large enough to feature all of our inductees. Consequently, we are in the process of establishing our Hall of Fame in an actual entrance hall to the Student Activities Center. This location is used daily by students, staff, and the public when entering the facility. It will feature a dynamic 50 feet long mural, several showcases and an electronic kiosk featuring all of our Hall of Fame members, dating back to 1958. Look for its completion later this year.

Recent news:
The NHSACA Hall of Fame honored Robert Bridges-Dearborn HS and John Shade-Grosse Ile HS for 2012 and Sue Barthold-E.Kentwood HS and Mike Torrey-Zeeland Public Schools (two different high schools) for 2013.

The 501(c)3 non-profit initiative is now providing an in-service webinar for high school staff (coaches, counselors, AD's.)
The webinar is only about 40 minutes and goes a long way to provide proper education on the NCAA and NAIA Eligibility Centers, JUCO opportunities, the importance of core classes, etc.
