Donald Palmer

      Hartland High School

Coaching boys and girls basketball, Donald Palmer has accrued 43 years of coaching experience, and counting, as he continues to coach Hartland High School’s girls team. Don has developed programs with the result of a total 912 victories. These victories were en-route to 14 Conference Championships, 14 District Championships, and 1 Regional Championship. Additionally, Don has been recognized for multiple Coach of the Year honors and was inducted into the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan Hall of Fame in 2006. Don also has a focus on community service participating in several organizations dedicating time and resources to helping those who need it.

Don has been described as a game changer by those who are closest to him. He worked to build up the Milford High School program and experienced a great deal of success there moving to Hartland High School where he continues to coach. At the Hartland High School program he “immediately changed the culture” of the program to one of determination and victory which has not been previously experienced.

Don is a coach that truly gains the admiration of his players, many of which return to watch games after graduation and support both Don and his programs. Don is described as being very humble and while he values his success on the court, it is the relationships he forms with players and colleagues that keeps them returning to him and the programs he builds.
